What we do
We run term-time Cylch Meithrin sessions together with a Ti a Fi group for younger children and their parents or carers. Children learn through play, songs, stories, creative work, sensory activities and regular time outdoors.
Our fees, childcare schemes, local partnerships and fundraising activities support the Cylch's charitable early-years provision.
Who we serve
We welcome families from Clocaenog, Ruthin, Clawdd, Derwen, Gwyddelwern, Bontuchel, Cyffylliog and the surrounding rural area. Welsh does not need to be spoken at home: families from every language background receive a warm welcome.
Our aim is to help every child develop confidence, independence, social skills and a love of Welsh before moving on to school.
Learning through Welsh
We use the Immersion Method to introduce Welsh naturally through play and daily routines. Songs, stories, conversation and practical activities give children regular opportunities to hear and use the language in a supportive setting.
The children's voices and interests are at the heart of our planning, keeping experiences relevant, enjoyable and appropriate to each child's stage of development.
Our setting
The Cylch is based at Ysgol Carreg Emlyn in Clocaenog, around five miles from Ruthin. We have access to two rooms, the school hall, yard and outdoor areas.
Being on the school site helps children become familiar with the environment and supports a positive transition when it is time for them to move on.
Quality and care
Every child's happiness and safety is our priority. The team provides a homely, welcoming environment, indoor and outdoor play, a healthy snack and support that responds to each child's individual needs.
The joint Estyn and Care Inspectorate Wales inspection in 2024 noted that children settle quickly, are happy and develop warm relationships with practitioners. You can read the latest inspection information on the Estyn website.
